# Gestures

Swipe your troubles away

Multi-touch gestures are supported by elementary OS, provided your device is equipped with proper hardware, for example, touchpads or touch screens.

### Configuring Gestures

View the available options for gestures and modify them from the System Settings (**Mouse & Touchpad** --> **Gestures**).

You can configure the gestures manner for:

* **Swiping horizontally** to switch between [workspaces](/elementary-os-user-handbook/overview/desktop-tour/multitasking.md#workspaces)
* **Swiping up** to switch to the [multitasking view](/elementary-os-user-handbook/overview/desktop-tour/multitasking.md#multitasking-view), or toggle the active window maximized
* **Pinching** to zoom your screen

### Touchpad Settings

Touchpad behavior preferences are available in another section of the System Settings (**Mouse & Touchpad --> Touchpad**).
