Control your controllers

In the Mouse & Touchpad section of the System Settings, you can configure your point-and-click controller behavior, assign gestures for useful functions, set up your mouse and touchpad options, and so on.

Set up Clicking Options

Open the System Settings, and navigate to Mouse & Touchpad --> Clicking, where you can set up the following:

  • Select your primary mouse button.

  • Adjust double-click speed.

  • Enable the dwell click, and adjust how long you need to hold the pointer to automatically click.

  • Enable and adjust the long press of the primary button to secondary click.

  • Enable the middle click paste option.

Control Your Pointer

You can configure such pointer settings as the pointer size, speed, acceleration, and more options.

  1. Navigate to Mouse & Touchpad --> Pointing, and set up the following:

  • Select the pointer size to your liking.

  • Enable the option to reveal the pointer when pressing Ctrl on your keyboard.

  • Enable the option of controlling the pointer using a keypad.

  1. Navigate to Mouse & Touchpad --> Mouse, and set up the following:

  • Adjust the pointer speed by moving the associated slider.

  • Select an option for the pointer acceleration between default and adaptive, or disable the acceleration at all.

  • Additionally, you can change the behavior of the mouse wheel by enabling the natural scrolling.

If the option to reveal the pointer with Ctrl is enabled, you need to use the right Ctrl on your keyboard to open the Dock preferences.

Configure Gestures

You can use multitouch gestures on touchpads and touchscreens for system navigation and other options.

Swipe and Pinch

Modify gestures in the System Settings (Mouse & Touchpad --> Gestures). The following options are available:

  • Swipe horizontally to switch between workspaces

  • Swipe up to switch to the multitasking view, or toggle the active window maximized

  • Pinch to zoom your screen

Each gesture can be performed either by three or four fingers.

Set up Touchpad

Modify the touchpad behavior due to your preferences in the System Settings (Mouse & Touchpad --> Touchpad).

  1. Adjust the pointer speed by moving the associated slider.

  2. Select how to perform the secondary clicking:

    • Two fingers touch, or

    • Bottom-right tap

  3. Enable/disable the tapping options:

    • Tap to click

    • Double tap and move to drag

  4. Select the way you prefer to scroll:

    • Two-finger gesture anywhere on the touchpad

    • Single finger along the right and bottom edges

  5. Enable/disable the natural scrolling

  6. Choose cases to ignore the touchpad:

    • While typing something on the keyboard

    • When a mouse controller is connected
