Etcher is an app that safely and easily flash OS images to SD cards and USB drives. You can download the app from the official website.
To create an elementary OS install drive, do the following:
Plug in your spare USB flash drive and open Etcher.
Click Select image to choose your downloaded .iso file.
Etcher should automatically detect your USB drive; if not, select the correct one.
Click Flash! It may take a moment to get started.
Once complete, continue to boot from the install drive.
